The 14th of February is almost here!
I’m not sure what this day means to you and maybe unlike me you can’t wait to see what your beloved or spouse has in store for you or maybe just like me, this year like every other year, you are staying indoors, ordering something in and being your own Val.There’s really nothing wrong with that either.
Whatever the 14th of February might mean to you, it’s still a day particularly set aside for the celebration of love and we shall continue to see it as such.
In the light of that here’s what the FoodCupid is here for.
So this isn’t a step wise manual or lecture on how to shoot your shot this Val’s Day. This is my simple love letter to you to help you plan that special day of yours. So let’s cut to the chase then💃🏾
So I grouped this article into broad arrow categories. There’s The Late Mornings/Afternoon arrow, The Evenings arrow and the Just-Indoors arrow. The All Others, the last of the categories features available Valentine Day packages. Let’s shoot to it then.
The first arrow – the Late Mornings/Early Afternoon:
The pointers made here maybe used as a pre celebration event or even your main, either way these are activities you can decide to do that’d be so much fun with your beloved.You can:
- Have a picnic. Yes!This isn’t a normal thing folks over here do but it won’t hurt to try something unique for that special day. Where to go picnicking, you ask? Well there’s the Botanical Gardens, Legon(the open space that oversees the lake,is just serene.And it’s perfectly green!) or the Lakeside view, Ashale Botwe. At both venues the options of canoe or boat riding are the readily available to help spice your picnic up a bit.
- Go course roping and canopy walking. Say you don’t wanna go riding on a quiet lake, you want something more involving yet fun, well this is the option for you two. The services are provided also at the Legon Botanical gardens. I must say the experience is just fun fun fun but hollup it demands energy and the total wipe out of fear, it can be a mini Fear Factor series:Couples Edition for you two. So if you are this fun energetic couple then this is for you.
- Go Karting. Yep yep! Also a fun option and you two can spend time knowing who is the ‘bestest’ and fastest driver but on a rather safer terrain. Please for the safety of the real lives on the road lol.
- A day at the spa– At least I know I need this after all this early year stress lol and she might too.Yep, you can treat each other to a great spa day whether it’s a full body massage or the hot stones, whether it’s just a facial massage or a pedicure/manicure. This great option would have you two relaxed and softened up.It isn’t a bad idea and there are so many spa places in town to choose from.
- Or you could simply Go swimming.Maybe this isn’t such a special thing because you two are probably two fishes in an aquarium but I’m talking about rooftop swimming provided at the Suncity Apartment Hotel. The hotel features a roof-top swimming pool with an excellent view of the ocean and surrounding Osu vicinity. Quite different aye.
- Okay, so it’s still a work day and not a free day for you and that means you won’t have the time to do any of these things. Here’s what you are going to do; order her some chocolate(that’s if she’s a fan ,of course), a bunch of fresh flowers, a dozen cupcakes and grab a card and scribble this down : ‘Can’t wait to show you what the rest of the evening holds.’ and have that delivered to her.
Now to the Evenings.
So you are back from work and have already phoned her or him to get ready. But where to?

💘Tang Palace Hotel & Restaurant – Located inside Airport, their Continental restaurant provides delicious lunch and dinner buffets; but it also provides an ala carte menu and a Teppanayaki/Hibachi grill station offering sumptuous meals and fine wines.
💘Eliza Bistro & Restaurant– They are located inside the Earl Heights Apartment,Dzorwulu and have a space with great ambience and a unique food set out (planning on releasing their review most probably next week).
💘Santoku Restaurant – They offer contemporary Japanese dining, so if you are feeling especially Japanese this Val’s Day do call to book ahead.They are located inside the Villaggio Vista,Airport.
💘Kempinski Hotel – Now they are included here for their Val’s day package offer.No not the USD 10,000 package lol, I’m talking the 250 ghc per head offer.
Where can you go for Fancy + Medium priced?
💘 Bistro 22 – inside Labone.They are offering a Valentine Day’s experience which includes a cocktail,live romantic tunes, special dessert and á la Carte menu for your choice of main meal.
💘Coco Lounge – located in the Stanbic Heights building. On this year’s 14th, they are offering a Val’s Day package, the Coco Valentine Package which includes a welcome cocktail,dessert, a rose with Live band music all for 100 ghc + 10% service charge.This does not include a main meal.That would be independently paid for by you.
💘Vine Lounge– A lounge at the Best Western Premier, Airport which serves revolutionary cocktails and good food is also offering Val’s Day package,see below and call 0558450253 to book.
💘 The Soprano – so not a lot of you might know this restaurant which is located inside the La Villa Boutique Hotel in the heart of Osu.An intimate poolside restaurant, The Soprano, specialises in generous portions of contemporary European food.It’s a really great place to take her or him. The atmosphere in and outside is just lovely.
Lastly where to go for Fancy + Affordable?, we have:

💘Treet Lounge And Grill, Achimota – This restaurant provided a great dimmed Lounge area and good food, if you are one who prefers less lighting for the special evening.
💘Open air Cinema – So another option aside dining that you can try for the evening is the Open air cinema experience. This Val’s day, 57openaircinema is holding another of this event for the lovers out there.I tried this once with my girlfriends and it was an awesome and different experience compared to the regular indoor cinema. 
The provision of air sofas are made but you can pack a blanket also just in case you get tired of sitting up and want to lay back with her and enjoy the movie.I believe there’s going to be a drive in option too that you can also opt for. There’s usually simple item 13s like popcorn,kebab, drinks,etc sold at the ground but you can pick food up from a restaurant on your way there or the two of you make some at home that is if you want to. I bet you’d love it too.See below for the details of event.
The Just-Indoors
Now I understand that not all of the lovestruck population are outside people or you are but she isn’t or at least for Val’s Day this year, you just don’t want to step out as you have done for the quadrillionth time, you want to do something special at home, you want to bring the party home instead. That’s perfectly fine either way but I can still help with that. So I can’t tell you the difference in scent between agave nectar fragrance or cucumber melon fragrance when it comes to candles or the number of columns the rose petals you plan on spreading on the floor should have or how far they should extend lol.
